Branding
Lenovo’s “For Those Who Do” tagline speaks to the consumers who are motivated to “Do” their best. They make things happen similar to Lenovo’s mantra, “We do things…we are entrepreneurial, steeped in ingenuity within an optimistic culture.”


Design
Lenovo originally introduced the Yoga laptop to target the “Do” consumer. The challenge with Yoga 3 Pro was to make it stand out as a premium product while being more functional, durable, thinner, and lighter than the prior version; all while reducing manufacturing costs. Taking inspiration from a watchband with its beauty, durability and flexibility, the “Watchband Hinge” was born. This concept would exceed all the mechanical parameters of being more stable with the multi-hinge points, 2mm thinner and about a half-pound lighter than its predecessor as well as upgrading to a premium appearance with a sleek metallic band.

User Experience
The Watchband Hinge was designed with full functionality in mind. The smooth action hinge allows the 360º rotatable touchscreen to optimize your “Doing” by adjusting into: Laptop, Stand, Tent, Tablet, or Flat mode.


Manufacturing
Innovative part design and assembly were kept in mind to reduce overall manufacturing costs. The innovative hinge design and methodology was crafted out of aluminum and steel to optimize strength and manufacturability.

Production
The Watchband Hinge assembly method of attachment enhances housing stability while assuring accurate repeatability on the production line.
